I am in love with this navy collared midi dress. It’s one of those dresses you can wear a million different ways! We’re in the middle of winter here and although it’s a very mild winter, it’s still winter. Tights and layers are a necessity. I can’t wait until the day that I can wear this dress alone with some cute sandals and a sun hat!
I wore this outfit here there and everywhere and had the most fun along the way. I hope you guys have an amazing month and I’ll see you next time in the next (beyond incredibly adorable darling fun) Dahlia piece.
Hope everyone’s had a good 2012 so far…January always feels like such a nonexistent month to me. I’ve been so unproductive and ultra lazy, spending time with the boyfriend and my kitten in the intense summer heat in South Africa, quite looking forward to Feb and everything that comes with it!
I’m loving this dress, it kinda makes me feel like an overgrown school kid but in the best way, ha, and the floral detail on the dress is too beautiful! I’ve worn it twice with shirts and once with a giant baggy t-shirt underneath…Loving it both ways to be honest! I wore it whilst taking a neighborhood stroll the other day and it felt so fun
In other news I’ve just been chosen to exhibit my photography at the Design Indaba at the end of the month, I feel so lucky! So that means I’ve been super busy prepping for my stall and coming up with ideas to make it look cool. If anyone has any rad ideas they’ve seen to make a stall look interesting please do tell! It also means I’m shooting non stop in Feb to make sure I have loads of work that hasn’t been seen before…gaaah not looking forward to looking like I haven’t seen a bed for days and living on tea (well kinda looking forward to the tea bit)…ha!
Sorry about the short post guys, hoping everyone has a very happy February however and I shall be back next month!

Today Dahlia talks to Ren Harvieu who has recently been named as one of the Sounds of 2012; a title that was last year bestowed to Jessie J. So an exciting year ahead for this new young artist. We caught up with her briefly for some quick questions about life, love, music and of course style:
Q) How does it feel to be one of the ‘Sounds of 2012′? A) It feels great! So lovely to be recognised for something you’ve worked so hard for.
Q) What music inspires you? A) Music that inspires me makes my chest swell with emotion, good or bad.
Q) How would you describe your personal style? A) At the moment its a cross between a Victorian schoolgirl, Wednesday Addams and Rizzo from Grease.
Q) If you could travel in time – where would you want to be in 5 years time? A). On a yacht in the south of france with a glass of red wine and the wind in my face.
Q) Your debut single ‘Through the night’ has recently been released. What’s the song about? A) Through the night was the first song I ever wrote with my friend chris, I was a teenager and I think that shows in the lyric. The longing for someone who can never be yours..That feeling that you’ll die if he doesn’t notice you.
Listen your Ren’s debut single ‘Through the night’ here…what a beautiful song!

Last week we got a little bit excited when we received an email from our Dahlia girls Vicki from The Magpie Girl and Olivia from What Olivia Did. The girls had decided to swap their lovely Dahlia dresses and mix it up a bit! And what a great idea it was…swap them, photograph them and blog about them on the same day!
Good friends Vicki and Olivia both have a confident and desirable sense of personal style, which is totally fun, unique and girly! In fact we wish we could steal some of their clothes!
Swapping clothes is awesome way of getting more ideas of how to style one item, plus a nice way to wear something new, and let’s be honest what girl doesn’t like wearing a new dress?
And finally the outcome…lets play Swapsies!
Vicki and Olivia are wearing our Joy heart print dress. We love how Vicki’s trademark red hair adds a pop off colour!
Our lovely ladies are wearing our Georgia double collar pocket dress in blue. We love how Olivia has styled the dress with her cat shoes! We ♥ them!
And now for the details…
Have you ever wished you could swaps clothes with a friend, celebrity or maybe one of our very own Dahlia Girls, if so we would love to know who is your wardrobe crush?! Anyone else doing a Dahlia dress swapsy?! Send your photos to lucy@dahliafashion.co.uk
Hope you welcomed the New Year in big style! The New Years Eve fireworks display in London looked amazing. I can sense that this is going to be a great year! Did you all have a good Christmas? Did Santa leave you any Dahlia presents under the tree this year? I hope so! I have been checking out the Dahlia sales and with up to 70% off, I might just treat myself to a new dress or two! (maybe three!)
I really love the Jessie skirt in Dahlia’s new range, I have been looking for one like that for ages but I am particularly drawn to the Ann-Marie dress, I love anything with love hearts on! It will be a great dress to wear for Spring too! I wore it out on a little trip to Newcastle, teamed with a white peter pan collar top underneath, a leather jacket and my new shoes! We took a walk around the Quayside and visited the Baltic gallery. I went to University in Newcastle so I have so much love for the city! So proud that the Turner Prize Awards was hosted by Newcastle this year! To see more photos of how I have styled the dress, please pop over to my blog!
Did everyone watch the first episode of New Girl last week? As it states on my bio above, I love Zooey Deschanel! Her character on New Girl is funny but the one to look out for is Schmidt. He comes out with the best one-liners! I think Zooey Deschanel would make the best Dahlia girlfriend! What do you think? Who’s your girl crush?
I’m so so excited to be one of the next batch of Dahlia’s girlfriends. I am in love with the playful girliness in every Dahlia piece. When my first dress arrived, I couldn’t believe how adorably 60′s it was. I wanted to grab my microphone and jump into a 60′s Girl Group Karaoke session immediately! I knew it would be perfect to wear to celebrate the birthday of my true love.
Winter’s chill is fast approaching so I layered with a faux fur vest, green cape, and warm fleece lined tights. I felt cozy all day and just the right amount of fancy! This dress would also be amazing dressed up for a party with sparkly platform heels, brightly colored tights, and a huge sequin bow headband. That’s how I plan to wear it next time. Oh, yes, there will be a next time!
Until next time, have a very happy holiday and always keep things happy.
